Pool Furniture Question...
Hi everyone. I am not spamming whatsoever. I have a question that I really would love your feedback on. My father and I started a pool furniture company here in Minnesota. It is actually light weight tall tables and chairs that you put right in the pool or leave them outside of the pool when people are using the pool for just swimming around. Most people just sit around the pool most of the day when really the most fun (I believe) is right in the pool.
I guess what I am asking is if you were going to get new furniture, would you consider this furniture if it was affordable? I know myself and my family have used it a lot right in the pool but could you see yourself using it and spending more time in the pool? I just want to get an idea of what people think. We think it's a great idea but to be real honest, we haven't done any kind of questionnaires to see what most people think. Our logic is if your are going to spend hundreds of dollars on a diving board for the kids, why not do the same for yourselves right?
I really really would appreciate anyones feedback on this. This is not spam, I just could really use other peoples ideas/points of view. We have lots of these right now so all ideas are welcome. Anything helps!!!
Thanks!
Bri

This is Minnesota. People, generally speaking, don't have pools here. We also have high winds, if it's that lightweight will it fly all over the place? We need sturdy stuff to cope with the weather here. Pools can be used for such a short time here, they are usually seen as a liability.
I can think of much better places to sell pool furniture than MN! Promise!

We don't have a pool, but a neighbor does. This is an interesting concept. I'll ask my neighbors. Their kids are grown now; maybe they would use their pool more if they had furniture to put in it?

I have a pool. I have lawn chairs and an outdoor bar/patio set near the side where cold drinks are served durring a gathering. I also use it for playing cards or an evening conversation with friends. If you are referring to high top outdoor furniture, I think it depends on the client. I wouldnt buy it for the family and I. My furniture matches the color of my pool house and other patio furniture.
If you are dealing with a family / kids then I would say no intrest. If you are selling to executives or people that hold frequent parties or gatherings, then I would say you are in buisness. These people want something classey and that usually is of some expense.

WOW! I skipped righ over that one.... FOrgive me?? Remember it is MONDAY LOL.
Definately not. I think that would be uhhh... well.... Tacky. (No offense OP)
I think that a pool gives a home a sense of class. In my opinion, this would take that class away.

Pool Stuff
Hey Guys.
I really appreciate all of your comments so far. I hear what Yellowsnow is saying but, We actually had a set made over a year ago and you would be shocked to see how much it gets used! When adults come over to the house, that is exactly where you will find them every time. As far as light weight, it is primarily lightweight aluminum, practically the same as lower sized furniture... It's definitely not going anywhere. The only part of you that gets wet is your lap and legs when you sit in it. I do understand the Minnesota market and I know about our seasons but we have to start somewhere right? After all, we have at least three beautiful months to get a lot of sun and really enjoy the pool. My other point I will make and I'll stop typing, it feels like I could type forever is that you can have the furniture sitting poolside as well. It's then a high top table and really gives you an outdoor feel. I'm not saying that it should replace the furniture but I am telling you that people will really start to enjoy their pool again. We spend all of this $$ on a pool, I think we should get the most out of it.
Thanks for all the great replies, keep em coming!

Oops
Oh, I am not trying to sell this to all of you but I do have a picture I wish I could show you that would clear up a lot of what I am trying to explain. I don't think this set looks tacky, but I have been known to be a tacky guy at times

In Pool Furniture
Actually, when I was a kid, we used to take regular old used furniture and put it in the pool. So I think its a great idea, but it would have a limited market in Minnesota because we just don't have a lot of pools. Lots of lakes, but pools... not so much.
I would say that most of the privately owned pools in Minnesota are above ground. I would be concerned about the liners getting ripped up.
I hear this is quite fashionable at some of the Mexican All-In-One Vacations spots where they even have poolside bars!

Above Ground..
There are actually a lot more underground pools in MN than above ground. What is really excellent about this furniture is that it is completely liner safe. We had rubber ends for the legs of the chairs custom made so they cannot damage the liner. Also, we just had our first big order sold to one of the big furniture stores in the Twin Cities and they are going to feature the furniture in this weekends ad as well as fathers day weekend! Needless to say, I'm pretty excited!
