Default Local Brews

Do you feel like the Twin Cities are over-represented, under-represented or well represented by local brews/breweries (beer)?

Which local brew is your favorite? Why?

I have no complaints about local beer.

Favorite: Surly CynicAle - Because it's delicious, currently my #1 drink of choice.

Honorable Mention: Summit EPA, you can never go wrong with a Summit.

Best Cheap Local Brew: Premium Grain Belt, at the same price point as beers like Miller High Life, Keystone and Busch, why would you pass it up. Grain Belt is a very adequate beer for the price.

I hate beer but the beer affectionados around me all give high marks to Surly. My husband also likes Grain Belt.

We just got some new home brewing equipment this weekend so my soon to be favorite is going to be brewing in my basement.

Grain Belt is good, Schells Lakemaid is good too. Can't go wrong with Summit either.

My father-in-law supplies the family with plenty of his homebrew, which I am told by those that like beer, is very good.

I homebrew and am not a huge fan of Surly. It's not bad, just not great. Summit may as well be budweiser at this point.

In that case you need to let me try one of your homebrews.

Premium!!

Does anyone know far do our beers go (like what states do they reach)?

For Surly fans: what are the different kinds, and how would you describe them? I'm only now starting to try them.
