I'm still nervous about the pitching. Liriano needs to return to form and losing Nathan will hurt.

Jaques Jones is picking on the inferior pitching in the minor leagues...

Boston's Boof Bonser hit hard in rehab start - - MLB - Sporting News

Nice to know we have him waiting in the wings, he got a couple of standing ovations when he came up to bat in the St Louis game I saw last Saturday.

Go Twins!
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt because you're a new fan but Punto...not a good hitter.

Our best bats are Mauer, Morneau, Kubel, Cuddyer and Span. You could throw Thome in the mix too although his best days are clearly behind him.

Yea Punto is fast and a great fielder. Batting is not hsi strength.

Tough loss today; probably should not have sent him home...

Thought the same thing about sending Hardy at first but ironically enough, Punto (.133) was next up. The only one really left to pinch hit for Punto would have been Casilla who is probably even less likely to get a hit.

Think Gardy wishes he would have had the extra position player instead of 12 pitchers (Burnett) at that moment. Tolbert would likely be next in line for the bigs but not sure that he's going to hit much better than Punto and Punto is a better fielder.

Would have been nice to be able to run Jacque Jones up to the plate after Thome's hit (he didn't even get credit for the double). Jacque is hitting .500 in 6 AB with a double and a homer, maybe he should start taking a few grounders down at Rochester.

look up ^

What's really dumb is Thome not hitting it a little harder for a home run knowing that the next batter after him likely couldn't hit his way out of a room full of seeing-impaired ballerinas.

On the third thought, considering that Hardy was out by about 80 feet, maybe they shouldn't have sent him. Saw where Ulger said he was watching for the short-stop to take the relay when in fact the 3rd baseman came out for the throw.

Yesterday was one of those games that are the ones you need to get. With a late lead, and the chance to get that lead back, they NEED to capitalize. There will be days where the Twins just get wupped, but Blackburn pitched well, and a couple bad pitches and dumb play got them an L instead of a W.

When we're only 2 games ahead of the WHite Sox in September, this is one of those games that should have been a win.
