If things haven't changed recently, the Hopkins school district encompasses much of eastern Minnetonka and most of Hopkins as well as small bits of Golden Valley, Edina, and Eden Prairie. It used to be a very good district back when Hopkins had two high schools, and I'm sure it still is. The web site lists various awards and such:

I graduated from Wayzata about 20 years ago. Classes were still pretty big back then (smaller than today; my graduating class was around 625), but I never felt like the school was too big.
