If St. Louis Park added about 5K to its population that would be my #1, but I picked Bloomington because it offers a wide variety of just about everything and its location is perfect.

I don't mean to re-start a tired old debate. But I thought this merited the posting of this link:

Population Study Finds Change in the Suburbs - NYTimes.com

Makes me wonder- in 30 years will the bohemians inhabit the suburbs and say they hate cities because they are "white and artificial"? We'll see.

I like Maple Grove out of those because it fits what I want in life right now. Lots of families, established neighborhoods, nice parks, close shopping (I hate that mess of a shopping center but I like that it's all in once place). It's a nice community.

My second choice would be Coon Rapids, it's older than MG but also has a lot of families. Love the Shendoah Oaks neighborhood.

Why so many votes for Bloomington? It's my least favorite place in the Cities. Bloomington is horribly congested, over-saturated, over-built, and traffic is an absolute nightmare. It's like it can't decide whether it wants to be a suburb or a city - and takes on the worst of both.

You hate the suburbs because they are 'white'?

Besides that being a gross generalization, it's also quite bigoted...

Location, variety of life, variety of incomes, variety of cultures, etc. It helps that it's big too. Congestion doesn't bother me very much since I deal with it every day. If I wanted to live in a slow, monocentric and isolated place I'd move to the boondocks!

I'm not voting cause I can't stand any of those. White Bear Lake is by far my favorite suburb.

I'd take Stillwater, Mahtomedi, South St Paul, and Hastings well before any of those, too.

I don't like any of the suburbs listed. Well, parts of Minnetonka are pretty nice, but too far out. My favorite suburb (but apparently too small to make this list) is St. Louis Park. I also really like Edina around 50th and France, as well as parts of Richfield. Still, SLP would be top of my list. And Hopkins. And maybe Falcoln Heights because I have a weakness for the State Fair. If I lived within walking distance I'd be on the grounds all the time.

The best thing about living in the suburbs is not having to deal with the traffic, congestion and mess you find in Bloomington.

Suburbs does not equal less traffic, it usually equals more traffic.
