OK- I'm now remembering my brief drive in Hiawatha area- never mind. I'm not sure which neighborhood area I am thinking of- I was looking at the area on behalf a friend that was relocating and it was east of Hiawatha Ave in Mpls- maybe Howe? Granted, I was in a residential area adjacent to a fairly industrial-feeling section just a few blocks from LRT (and this was several years ago), so I probably shouldn't be judging the whole n'hood based on the several blocks I saw- but wherever I was at, the area wasn't too appealing to me...it seemed quiet but was fairly run-down/unkempt in appearance.

True, the area right along Hiawatha Ave in that stretch is filled with old beat up industrial buildings and then there is an old train yard over there. They are slowly starting to re-develop some of those properties into condominiums and apartment buildings but it's still far from one of the more attractive areas of the city. However, once you get 3-4 blocks east of Hiawatha and as you go towards the river it gets very residential and quaint.

Thank you everyone, I really appreciate all your feedback. (Camden Northsider-I'm surprised you remembered our original post, wow!) We are looking for a house to rent,
6 months to a year lease, been checking Craig's List and saw some places. Any ideas about where else we can look for a house to rent, please let us know. Checked the newspaper too but didn't see much on there.

We are going to check out a place in Nokomis, but will keep in mind that it may not be the most walkable neighborhood, which is indeed what we are looking for.

As far as a neighborhood, a safe place, basically a neighborhood that is a college town (we were going to look for places near U-M but need a shorter commute), close to a light rail, reasonably close to Bloomington and also Chaska.

Thanks again everyone, can't wait to move out there!
