Default moving to Brainerd, Minnesota

We are moving to Brainerd and I would like some tips on our upcoming move (services).

newspaper:

Yes, we actually like a daily newspaper. We have considered the Brainerd Dispatch but it seems very small and not worth it. We have considered the St. Cloud Times but that's an outsider. We are thinking also about Star Tribune, NYT, or Wall Street Journal, the Star Tribune currently being the frontrunner. Suggestions? Is Brainerd Dispatch a good newspaper?

cell phone service:

At&t or Verizon?

bank:

? We have Wells Fargo right now but we're open to a bank change.

dentist:

?

internet service:

?

garbage:

?

kennel for dogs:

?

Thank you for the help.

Get the local paper and read the others online. The outstate versions of the Trib and Pioneer Press get delivered the evening before so the news is "old". Wells is pretty much everywhere so it is easy to keep your current accounts. I am going to assume Verizon but I don't know for sure. Verizon has better coverage in MN for the most part. I can't help on the rest.

I live in Duluth and get brand new up to date versions of the Trib and Press, is it different for Brainerd?

Brainerd isn't desolate. It used to be, but not anymore.
I have a cabin in Brainerd and it's now not any different than home.

Wireless Service:
All major providers should work there no problem. I have ATT and I get perfect service there. My parents have Verizon and Sprint and they both work perfect for them.

Newspaper:
Like Golfgal said, it may not be a bad idea to just register online for it, and pick up the paper copies if wanted, they are only $.25-$.50. But, it's the Brainerd Dispatch, what do you expect... The Star and Press are serviced up there, just get one of them.

Bank:
There's a Couple Wells Fargo's in town, so that shouldn't be a problem

Dentist:
Try researching Angie's List.

Internet Service:
I'm sure Qwest has something, as does Charter Communications if you get their services.

Garbage and Kennel, couldnt tell you much..

At my cabin, we have High Speed wireless internet and cable TV and I bank at Wells and my family has/had verizon and there has never been an issue.

Forget about the St Cloud Times.

Their reporting of local news doesn't extend very far into Morrison County.

For banking check out Mid Minnesota Credit Union...several locations, nice people and have never had a problem or concern with them. If you live in the area you can join.

For cell phones...Verizon has the best coverage.

The Brainerd paper probably is not worth getting daily. They have a decent weekend edition that comes out Saturday mornings, though.
