Hi, I am moving to Rochester, MN from North Dakota for a job, and am having some trouble finding any decent pet-friendly apartments there. Anybody have any suggestions of who to contact or where to look? Also, I don't know much about decent neighborhoods down there either, any information is helpful! Thanks!!

You should look at rent.com. You can see on there what places accept pets. It's a start at least. Not knowing how much you want to spend on rent, I'll just give you a brief idea of some of the rentals. Stay away from Hunter's Ridge. It's not really awful, but it's not a good area really. Just see more cops visiting there. There's also a couple of larger complexes on Marion Road near Hwy 14. I don't really know much about them, but just that you get a lot of apartments in one area, you seem to have more trouble than other places. Again, nothing major that I've heard of, just letting you know it's a crowded area. There are multiple complexes along 41st St. NW. This area is decent, however, there have been incidents with gangs in an area near there.

Also check out Infinity Real Estate & Management Group - he is a realtor who does rentals as well. Really good guy and I know he has had rentals that accept pets.

If you are willing to share more information, I might be able to help more. You can send me a private message if you'd like too.

I have a friend who lives in Quarry Ridge and she said she has a cat. Rent may be a bit higher than other apt, but they have shuttles to downtown.

Thanks for the info. I found a few rental agencies online and did find a couple of apartments. Anyone know anything about the 10th St SE area in the vicinity of Marion Road?? I just don't want to sign a lease and be stuck in a bad area of town...if there are any. I will be working in the area near the fairgrounds.

Is it a big apartment complex, townhouse, house? If it's by Cub Foods, I don't think it's too bad there. It wouldn't be my first choice, but I have kids so I try to stay away from the busier areas. I see lots of people who walk to Cub late into the evening. In the summer, there's a taco truck that parks by Cub. There's also a great Mexican restaurant and a Chinese restaurant in that area too as well as Big Lots, Subway, Burger King, and a hardware store among a few others. There's a nice park in that area too - Slattery Park. There's also Homestead Park by there, which is smaller. At Slattery, there are tennis courts, a ball field, you can play disc golf, the river is there with a trail along it that you can take to downtown. At Homestead, you can play ball or volleyball.

Well, I found a place! Signed a lease and put down the deposit. Its 10th Ave SE just north of Slatterly Park and a couple blocks west of Homestead Park. Hoping that is a nice area of town!

I think you'll be just fine - although I don't really know a thing about you. But you'll have easy access to just about everything there, so you picked a good spot.
