Hello all-

We are moving from Texas to Minneapolis this summer. I think we have settled on the Eden Prairie area. We also have found some homes in Minnetonka. I have a 4 year old that I want to enroll in Pre-school. Through my internet research I have found a lot of information about the Community Education Programs in both school districts. Any thoughts on these programs?
My next question is the difficulty in getting into these programs. Are they pretty popular? Do you have to live in the specified school district to register for their pre-school programs? Since we will not be there until this summer I am afraid we will be too late to register or reserve a spot in the program.
Finally, other than the Community Education programs through the school districts are there any other recommendations for pre-schools in these two areas?
Thank you for all your input.

I am not familiar with the specific programs you are talking about but I am going to guess it was the ECFE, Early Childhood Family Education, program. That is a statewide program that has been around for 25+ years. They offer programs for families with kids ages birth to kindergarten. It is a GREAT way to get to know people if you are new to town. For the most part the preschools they offer are good and popular. Many of the schools offer preschools as well and those programs are usually very good too.

International School of Minnesota (ISM) has a great preschool and the education continues through the 12th grade. My daughter received a world-class education, and she received a full-tuition scholarship to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, majoring in nuclear engineering as a result! She will graduate with her master's in 3 1/2 years due to the college preparation ISM provided, allowing her the opportunity to take all honors and AP courses. If you are planning to stay in Minnetonka or Eden Prairie, you should give them a try. Cheryl
