Possibly moving to MN
My family and I are thinking of moving to MN from Long Island,NY (Melville to be exact). My sister in law lives in Eden Praire. We absolutely love EP. My only concern are the schools. Where we live now, the schools are great. I was told that Edina have the best schools. Is that true? Please advise. Thank you

I think you will find that ALL of our suburban public schools are excellent. When they say that one is better than another it is purely statistical. As far as that goes I don't think Edina is rated #1, but it a great school district.

For suburbs that were already above 6,000, I believe Maple Grove and Blaine are on the top. Outside the metro, Rochester is growing very fast for a city it's size. Between 2000 and 2006, Rochester went from 85,000 to 96,000. That's 13%. But the fastest growing would just be a town near Minneapolis/St. Paul that started out with a few hundred people, but then recenty became a suburb. Maybe Rogers?

Quote in today's Echo Press from Alexandria by Cameron Macht, regional analyst w/MN Dept. of Employment and Economic Development "Alexandria is really one of the fastest growing cities in comparison to other MN cities." Pop. increase since 1990 is 44% and projected to grow another 32% by 2035.

I am curious why Alexandria is growing so rapidly, there are no jobs there, this town is a tourist trap, who is moving there?
