We use to but the best picking is south of here.

The lake superior agates were carried south by the glaciers.
You can still find some stragglers along the shore but the best hunting is south of here.

We have a one pound tumbler bought up in Two Harbors many years agp that we use. We run each cycle going through the different grits needed, excitiong to see the finished rock nice and polished.

There was just an article in the Times the other day about a guy from Sauk Rapids who has a huge agate collection currently on display at the Benton County Historical Society through November (ok, ok, I know that they aren't from Lake Superior , but they're still from MN!)

Moose Lake I believe is the home of the worlds largest Lake Superior Agate it can be seen in a bank that is downtown.

Also each year there is Agate Days held where Lake Superior Agates from all over are traded, bought, and displayed.

That large one here in this picture is 1#14oz. so just shy of two pounder. I found this one in a gravel pit, some years ago, and just for fun Id brought it along to the Agate Days event a few years ago just to see what it may be worth, and the rock shop from Two Harbors said they'ed give me $75.00 for it, but Id never sell it, because the chances of us finding another agate that size would be fairly slim.
Its about the size of a softball.

The two bandsawn objects directly behind the agates are driftwood boxes that I create. The driftwood comes from
Lake Superior
