headed to Metrodome--where to stay?
Hubby is a HUGE MN Vikings fan. I just secured tickets for his 40th birthday--we're in CA and one of his life goals is to attend a game in the Metrodome. Can anyone recommend a place to stay in town? Don't need five star, but would like clean, nice and accessible. Just don't want to make a random selection.
Thanks so much!

There is a nice Marriott Courtyard in the Milwaukee on Washington Avenue that looks nice, it opened fairly recently. Pretty close to the Dome.

I would stay at the Country Inn and Suites at the Mall of America. You can hop on the light rail and it drops you off right at the metrodome. You would also have access there to shopping/food, etc. There isn't much open downtown on the weekends or evenings so this would give you some things to do. It is a nice hotel, I have stayed there several times and they have a free shuttle service to/from the airport so you wouldn't need a car.

Either would be good choices in my book.
As far as stuff to do in downtown, there is the Mill City Museum, the Sculpture Garden, the Mpls Institute of Arts, Ice skating at the Depot, the theater, etc. In my view, it's worth renting a car to see some of the sites here even if you DO stay at the Country Inn and Suites!

There is also a Holiday Inn right across 35 from the dome. The streets may get a little rough after dark as its between DT and the U, but nothing too bad. The hotel is pretty nice.

If you haven't chosen your hotel yet...I really like the Hyatt downtown. If you go on priceline, you can get it for $80 sometimes and it's a world class hotel...also most of it's guests are corporate, meaning lower rates on the weekends!
Nice location to the downtown nightlife area too.
