Default fresh apples near Moorhead?

We're moving to the Moorhead area, and I am wondering if there are any apple farms or apple orchards up there. How far will we have to drive this fall to get fresh, Minnesota grown apples?

We currently live in St Cloud and every fall we drive to an apple farm in Dassel. It's great! We get fabulous apples at reasonable prices. I will miss this annual experience if there isn't an apple farm within a reasonable driving distance of Moorhead.

There are definitely apple trees around, but I'm not sure of any orchards--there probably are some, though. It might be worthwhile to go to the Saturday morning Farmer's Market in downtown Fargo and pick a few brains around there. Those folks would know.

Hey Travis--thanks. I didn't know there's a Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings in Fargo. I'm so happy to hear this! I definitely want to check that out!

Hi

I have lived in the Red River valley for 9 years and dont know of any orchards in the immediate area F-M or Grand Forks areas....though I did find one not too far away in Frazee MN just outside of Detroit Lakes. Maple Hills Orchard is there and if you google you can find its web site.

Here is the info on the Fargo farmers market....(From FM downtown web site....I assume the dates are this year)

Downtown Fargo Farmers Market Date: July 28th, August 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th, September 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th
Start Time: 09:00 am
Come downtown each Saturday for fresh produce, crafts, baked goods, art ... you name it!

On the US Bank Plaza at Broadway and 2nd Avenue from 9 am until around 1 pm, depending on weather and supplies.
