I had to Google Butterfield, MN because I'd never heard of it before! It certainly isn't a big town (about 500 people, right?); but many small towns have locals who have small bands or orchestras that play for wedding dances, etc. What will limit your hubby is the types of music he plays and how far he's willing to drive to play music with others.
And I'm sorry but I don't know anything about the job market there either.

I had to look it up as well. You should be able to hook up with some bands in Mankato or New Ulm. The job market in both towns is probably pretty good depending on what you do for a living. The unemployment rate in Mn is pretty low and lower still in smaller towns. Why Butterfield?

We found a beautiful place up there with a farm, and we are so ready to get out of Alabama! time for a change been here almost 20 yrs, and it's become a real drag, looking forward to the change, and the snow! he is from Illinois, and me from so calif, I like different places and meeting new people, what part are you from? My husband plays all kinds of music, but his love is R&B, he plays sax and keyboard the most, thanks for your help! Karen in Bama.

Butterfield is a small farming community. It is pretty isolated and Mankato is about 45 minutes away, so that would be the closest large town. Im sure that Butterfield dosnt have a grocery store and things like that, so you will probaly travel to Windom or St. James (both nice small towns) for those types of things. I think you will enjoy SW minnesota though, most people are very friendly like they are here in Marshall. Im sure onece you get out by Butterfield though, you probaly have some styerotypical red necks though, but overall, nice close-nit communities.
