That said, I do not welcome the sun going down earlier...and earlier, and earlier.
I hear ya. Death, taxes......and 5 p.m. Minnesota sunsets.

They have gotten soft up in that state with the really mild winters .
Clearly you must not have been here the winter of 2013-14.

Last winter was nothing to scoff at either. Snowfall was above average due to all those late season storms.

Good chance here in Isanti Co. beginning overnight and into Monday. We need it......bad. Not only has it been dry, but we've been sniffin' wildfire smoke that's drifted over from western Canada and Ontario.

Looking forward to cooler temps mid week also. High's mid 70's and at least one low down toward 50. We went up to the Boundary Waters last weekend and it was miserably hot there, too.

Don't have stats on hand, but I would wager that this summer has been much warmer and drier than last. I recall donning the hoodie several times last summer and I haven't done it once since early June or so.

I was thinking of going to the BWCA this summer, but managed to make it to the western UP. I did most of the trails in the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness Area.

I'm from Michigan but have never been to that part of the UP. Closet I got was Big Bay west of Marquette. Man, do they get the snow over there. I lived in Petoskey, northern lower, for 7 years. Made a few snowmen there, too.
