The slush we got on Monday has pretty much all melted. I hope we get some snow. Its amazing the contrast in temps across the Lower 48 right now. Even though we're still a little above average it was in the upper 60's and 70's in Missouri and Kansas- 80's in north Texas!

State tournament time, upwards of a foot of snow is predicted for Tuesday/Wednesday from the Twin Cities up to about the Brainerd area. Storm track may vary slightly as it gets closer to Tuesday but somewhere in the area is going to get hit.

Still snowing here tonight, we may have allready gotten 2-4 inches through-out the day so far. There is a little miniture drift forming in front of the large garage door, may have to shovel in the morning... if so it will be the first time so far this winter to have to shovel

One model is showing 20+ inches in the St. Cloud area on Tuesday/Wednesday.

I would really like to have ONE snowday while our kids are in school. We have yet to have one since moving to the metro .

First it was supposed to snow a bunch, now the NWS is saying snow, slush/ice - then rain and maybe even some thunder! then back to snow, so only a few inches of slush here. Yesterday they were saying 12-18 inches of snow. Kind of exciting trying to follow the weather right now

Just a heads up for those of you in the Twin Cities:

This next storm is looking really ugly to me. If the models are correct freezing rain could be a big problem. This NAM output tells the story pretty well:

The precipitation is staying heavy but that 0 C line keeps tracking further north.

Stay safe!

Is this another storm or the one that is starting today? If it is another storm, when is this predicted to hit?

We had a few light flurries so far this morning. Nothing much happening yet. I would like a really good blizzard though. I love sitting in my living room watching the snow blow while all warm on the couch with a good book

It is the same storm. The heaviest precip for the Twin Cities is expected tonight. Unfortunately, expected temps (both surface and aloft) aren't cold enough for a good snowstorm. The GFS model looks a bit better than the NAM on this point, but I just don't see the same blizzard we were hearing about a few days ago developing now. I hope I'm wrong.

One bright point: conditions look very good for substantial snowfall north of the Twin Cities tomorrow morning, perhaps from Hinckley to Duluth.

The 18Z NAM model run shows less precipitation in the Twin Cities (which is good since that means less freezing rain).

Still looks pretty good up in Duluth, if you like snow.
