Default Chaska/Chanhassen -Why so expensive?

I can't get over the prices of homes in this area. It will make relocation VERY expensive.

What are some good alternatives? We want to live as close as possible to a Catholic grade school in the SW metro. My drive is not that important to me.

Thanks.

Hmm...St. Huberts? Great school, from what I hear.

I think that the high costs are because the housing stock was built slightly larger and with more amenities in that area. They seem to have always targeted a little more high-end buyers.

There is also a Lake Minnetonka spillover effect. Especially in the case of Chan, it is seen as a positive to be just a couple miles from the Lake Mtka neighborhoods and lifestyle.

Because the neighbors are highly educated, schools are great and there is little poverty and crime. Also most people speak English so the schools are better.
