Ditto to Charter is horrible!
Charter's organization and customer service is absolutely horrible! I have had Charter Cable and Internet for 5 years and have been satisfied, but I got the promo for the bundle (including phone) and thought I'd make the phone switch from Frontier to save money. All I've had is trouble since trying to get this accomplished. First off, the person taking the order got everything screwed up. He changed my cable package (they stopped by and were going to take away my digital cable box), got the appointment date for the phone change wrong (I set up a specific date on which I'd be home and he made it for a different date), and also got the pricing on the package wrong. Of course when I called to verify the appt. a couple days prior to the date, it was wrong and all they could offer was an appt. a week later. So, yesterday was the date for installation/switch of the phone. I had an appt. set up from 1-5 p.m. By 4 p.m. I had heard nothing from them. I called to verify that they'd be showing up and all they could say was that I had an appt. and they couldn't do anything until they didn't show up. The person I was connected with was an absolute "B". So, after waiting until 5:05 and them still not showing up, I called them again. They said the techs were running 15 minutes late and said they'd contact the tech's office and would hear back from them within 45 minutes. They said to call back in an hour if I hadn't seen anyone yet. So, at 6:15 I called them again. They didn't know what was going on and said they'd call back with info and an ETA. They called me at 9 p.m.!!!, then said I'd been talking to the wrong dept. (which of course I'd been transferred to by them) and they'd transfer me to the right dept. in a couple seconds. After being on hold for 15 minutes I finally get to talk to someone. I asked for an explanation and they said they didn't know what happened. They did say that once the order is dispatched to a tech, it's out of their hands and they have no control over whether it gets done or not. (So, I guess Charter only takes orders and isn't held accountable in making sure that anything happens with it.) In addition to Charter taking no responsibility for the tech not showing up, they only offered a $20 discount off my bill and a new appt. which wouldn't be until Nov. 21st (at the earliest). Apparently, them wasting my entire afternoon/evening is only worth $20! Please keep in mind that everytime I talked to someone new I was put on hold for at least 10 minutes and had to give each person the same scenerio and same info. to verify that I am who I am. I'm sure I've wasted 400-500 minutes of my time on this whole deal so far and I'm not through yet.
Now I am going to check out my options with Frontier DSL and Satellite Dish for TV. I am more than fed up with Charter and it's horrendous customer service and lack of accountability. They don't deserve my money!
