Default Getting involved...MN

Hey all,
I've recently moved up to MN and have one issue I'm finding hard. I'm in my early 20's ..in a relationship..not married/no kids and realize it's hard to find other young people to go out with. I'm female and hanging out with a boyfriend all the time eventually catches up with you. I was wondering what suggestions you may have for meeting people when you're new up here. I've explored the meetup.com option, but find that may be a bit too much (a big crowd...hard to fit in). I like sports, outdoors, and trying new things, but also work a 9-5 monday through friday that takes up time obviously. So, any help?

whatever will become famous soon enough
What things do you like to do? Go out and do them and you'll meet people like yourself. If you're outdoorsy join a paddling club.

Or just volunteer for something. I've done that before and you'd be suprised. I'm volunteering for the local fire department, it'll be about 10 weeks before I actually do anything real, but I'm sure I'll meet lots of good people while training and will eventually do something for a community that I'm really falling in love with.

Or go take classes in something you like to do. Art, Tai Chi, photography?

Just some thoughts

Sign up for some classes, sport teams, activities through your community and school programs. Most suburbs and even Mpls have all sorts of activities: I've taken specialty cooking classes, furniture refinishing, and museum trecks through these over the years.

Then there's the volunteer activities: volunteer for anything you are passionate about (Sierra Club, Politics, church activities, etc). I've never had trouble meeting people that way!
