Default General info on Glenwood, MN

Hello All,
I may be moving to the Glenwood area in the immediate future for a temporary (10 week) position at the Glenwood Medical Center. Can anyone give me some general info on the area such as areas to avoid, reputation of the Medical Center, Hotels, etc. ?

Thanks very much in advance...

Glenwood is a nice small town on lake Minnewaska. It's small enough so that there aren't any bad parts that you need to avoid. Beyond that, I'll leave it to a local to provide more hotel/hospital info. One of my best friends is from there, so I've been there a few times but just stayed at his parents'.

Sorry, but I had to smile on that one. As stated there are no areas to avoid. This is small town MN. I am sure you will find the people there to be very friendly and the workers at the medical center to be very solid. You may even find someone there to take you out fishing on the lake during your short stay.

Where are you coming from?

Glenwood is a safe, quaint nice town. There is a motel right off Hwy 55-looks clean and neat from outside-Scottwood Inn,1-320-634-5105. The view driving into the area is just beautiful, Lake Minnewaska is huge. Places to eat-Wild Ridge, casual bar/rest. with good food, Bella's-for Italian and great steaks, Lakeside Ballroom-new owners and food is supposed to be very good. For take-out there's Pizza Ranch, Chinese Buffet is being renovated. Think you will enjoy your stay.

I have family there and spend time there frequently. It is very safe; no one really locks their doors. I understand the Glenwood Hospital offers limited services; my aunt went to Alexandria for her pregnancies. It's a pretty little town. Not much there, though, besides the lake.

Nice town...not much to do except for the lake (according to my perceptions.)

I grew up about 20 minutes from there (Melrose) and I have always thought it was a nice town...seems boring though...could be wrong!

Default Glenwood

Glenwood is a nice little town, on a big lake. If you are going there in the next month you should still be able to catch some of the summer fun on the lake. They just had their big summer event of the year the Waterama. YOu said your job was at the medical clinic? The hospital is Glacial Ridge Hospital. They do the usual rural hospital stuff. Specialties are provided by outreach from St Cloud (Cardiology etc,) Or Alexandria. It's what all small towns do. You are driving distance from anything you want . Only 20 minutes from the interstate which will take you 2 hours to MPLS. Just make friends with somone there who is active in the lions club, or some other service organization and they will set you up with the local fun events .
