GhostPoet, working in Accounts Payable will be a good skill to have, anything in Finance is in high demand right now - good websites to job search: www.minnesotaworks.net and Job Search | one search. all jobs. Indeed. There will be much more opportunity in Minneapolis/ Metro area but if you're diligent in your job search you can probably come up with stuff in outstate areas as well.

If you are considering Minneapolis, you can find homes in Minneapolis in your range. Minneahahpolitan's statement about Northwest quadrant of Minneapolis is misleading, there are several great neighborhoods in this area where housing is much more affordable than other Metro areas that are also considered very safe and established/ in-demand neighborhoods in which to buy. We bought are home in your price range (thanks to the current housing market and finding a good fixer-upper) and are very happy with our neighborhood.

Good luck with your decision-

Another thought if you're looking outside the metro is Rochester. It's rated as one of the best places to live by Forbes (I think, unless it was Fortune? Some "F" mag though, lol.) Growing at a very healthy rate, great healthcare (home of the mayo clinic) and plenty of malls, eateries and the like. I'm not sure about housing prices. It IS Minnesota so it does get cold in the winter, but still quite a bit warmer than way up north where I live
