To clarify, BluePlus is Blue Cross / Blue Shield. (I work there). It's managed care so it's a separate legal entity, but it's functionally the same for everyone but our accountants.- everyone works in the same buildings, etc. Managed care / HMOs are on their way out so you don't hear the BluePlus name too much (and in fact we've even stopped enforcing referral requirements for MinnesotaCare in most places in most cases. It creates a huge headache and it doesn't cost us any more if you decide to go to Park Nicollet instead of Fairview.

Is there really any other difference between Health partners and Ucare besides Health partners having a wider range of clinics?

My son has hypothyroid so he needs to go to an endocrinologist. The Ramsey county gave me a choice between blue plus, ucare or healthpartners. I don't know which is the best.

We have always had good experience with HealthPartners.

If Blue Plus is actually part of Blue Cross/Blue Shield, I'd go with that. Hard to beat BCBS for coverage and providers, and if the premium cost is subsidized by MinnesotaCare, which I'm sure it is, that makes it an even easier choice, in my opinion.
