I am trying to locate some friends who live in Minnesota City. I've been unable to reach them since the flooding occurred, and they are not registered at any of the Red Cross shelters. Does anyone know the whereabouts of the Campbell family from Minnesota City?

I have family in Minnesota City and I'm heading there tomorrow to help them empty their house-everything lost. If you give me names I can ask around while I'm there.

The flood was horrific and the aftermath is too. We fared remarkably well, considering.
The whole thing was literally a "flash flood," water filled our basement to the top in about 10 minutes, but remarkably, stopped rising before entering the first floor. The force of the rushing water blew in the basement door and popped the glass right out of some basement windows and shoved one cement block foundation wall over an inch or two. Most everything in the basement is lost (furnace, hot water heater, winter clothes, holiday decorations, electrical panel, etc.). Spent a day pumping out water and three days shoveling mud into buckets and schlepping them up and out to the yard. Quite a bummer, but a far better fate than many others here. I meet with a FEMA dude in the morning...they seem to be really stepping up their game after Katrina. Here is a photo of the train bridge remains 150' from my house. |
