HI, am looking to move to Rochester and would like to find out more about living conditions. Specifically what are the bug problems? How bad are the Mosquitoes?

Also, the US Drought Monitor says Rochester is having a bad drought problem. Just how bad is it?

I welcome all replies.

the drought just formed over the last few months, prior to that this whole area has had above normal precip for the past few years. I wouldn't base the decision to move on one drought, they happen everywhere all the time.

Mosquitoes are probably similar to what they are here, they can get bad in the summer at night. The only place to really escape them are areas like the black hills of south dakota and other parts of the western great plains, but they it's all dry and grey looking out there. You want it green, you will always have some mosquitoes.

But there's no bears, poisonous snakes, poisonous spiders, or anything like that. Ticks perhaps.

Wink Rochester

I have lived here my whole life and well I have to say I love Rochester. We do have cold winters and humid summers. Idk about this dry spell u r talking about.

Best part here is HELLO Mayo Clinic 2nd best hospital in the world. LOL I'm just kidding downtown during the day is crazy down there. All of downtown is Mayo Buildings.

We do have lots of colleges, bars, local restaurants that have AMAZING food, Not much crime, more job openings then other larger towns around.

I recommend it but winters are cold. And the bar to go to is Kathy pub

I've lived in Rochester for almost 10 years now, and have had no issue with mosquitoes- and I'm allergic to them, so that's a big deal for me! That being said, I've always lived in the middle of town, not anywhere near a typical mosquito breeding ground.
