No one should really be surprised, but as near as I can tell the Arden Hills site has been resurrected with one bill already introduced and another one about to be. Started getting an aneurism trying to decipher plan A from plan B, but as near as I can figure out, they will be using some of the budget surplus to buy tens of millions of lottery scratch offs and if they don't hit enough winners they will be building a tee-pee shaped stadium out of the losing tickets. Yep...I think that's about right, although next week is just around the corner and we haven't heard from Mayor Bicycle lately.

Those newest plans look ridiculously dumb.

The first one mentioned essentially makes Ramsey County contribute if they can (but if they don't, who picks up the tab?). The second one is based on the ludicrous assumption that if property taxes for businesses are eliminated in the state that somehow the extra money the businesses will have will be given to fund a Vikings stadium. So not only will we lose a significant chunk of money formerly in business tax revenue, but we'll also not have enough money to fund the stadium (who actually believes businesses would somehow cover that gap out of the generosity of their hearts? I have family who owns businesses and they're honest people, but they'd just pocket the extra money, not give it all to the Vikings), which puts more taxpayer money on the hook.

If only we'd never publicly funded any stadiums anywhere in the country. Then things would make more sense.

Wouldn't there be room for a Vikings stadium on the river in downtown Saint Paul across from the downtown airport?

The new Lafayette bridge freeway ramps to 94 will use up most of the space in that area, across the river by Robert and Plato would be cool

Do the Saint Paul Saints baseball team still play at midway stadium? The vikings could share a stadium with them

The Saints want a new stadium, but there's no way it'll be shared with the Vikings. The Vikings didn't want to share a football stadium with the U, so they're definitely not going to hammer out a contract with the Saints.

And really, the football/baseball stadium mix doesn't quite work. The fields are totally different.

They still play there but they want to build a small new stadium in DT St Paul. I think it would be cool to tear down midway stadium and build a football stadium
