You might want to check out:
Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund | Minnesota's Legacy

"In 2009, the Legislature appropriated approximately $93 million from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund for projects beginning during the next two fiscal years (July 1, 2009 - July 1, 2011)."

So, $93 million for 2 years. Assume that level of funding for a decade and you get $465 million. Plus add in any bonding bill money, etc. And tax breaks to private donors for charitable donations.

I'm not real convinced that Minnesota should be spending money on a Vikings stadium, but the amount of money involved does look to be pretty comparable to various arts spending by the state.

And there you go - you've achieved parity across different interest groups.

Then start doubting.

And what is "and they're still getting Super Bowls" supposed to mean? They last got one in 2000 (12 years ago next month), and none of the four future Super Bowls that have been awarded will be played in Atlanta.

I don't go there...
My tax money goes to roads and infrastructure... Yet I break my car taking a simple drive down University Ave and I have friends' whose lives are scarred because of a bridge falling over.

How about this little piece ***""In November 2008, Minnesotans passed the clean water, land, and legacy amendment to the Minnesota Constitution. As a result, over the next twenty-five years, 3/8 of one percent of the state’s sales tax will be dedicated as follows:

So... For every "So the baby football players can have a playground?" I can counter with "So every tree-hugging hippie liberal can drive their Trek on the trails and the artsy fartsy attend gatherings at the Guthrie??"
This.

Just to clarify one thing, Jericho was talking about the Superdome (which hosted in 2002 and is slated to host in 2013) getting Super Bowls, not the Georgia Dome.

The Georgia Dome has yet to have its roof collapse.

I talked to a few Georgia residents here on City Data, and they mentioned that any desire for a new Falcons stadium would be purely for "vanity purposes".

Hey everyone. Vikings reportedly close to deal to stay in Minnesota.

Quote:
Peter King reported on NBC's "Football Night in America" Sunday that it’s no longer a question of "if" but "when" the team officially commits to staying in the state, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

"Look for the Vikings to sign a long-term deal and build a new stadium in Minnesota so that they will not be a candidate to move to Los Angeles," King said. "Everybody had been rumoring that they were going to L.A. The Vikings are going to stay in Minneapolis."

So do you Minnesota residents think it will actually happen?

I think the Vikings will stay. I just hope they keep it in the city rather than out in the suburbs. If they gotta, get a sponsor for the stadium AND the field.
