Hey, MacGyver is not schlock TV (though maybe Stargate is!).

Dylan, Prince, the Jayhawks, and OF COURSE Garrison Keillor!

Andrew Myrick, of course, famous for telling the starving Dakota Indians in 1862, "Let them eat grass!"

A few months later he was found dead, his mouth stuffed with grass.

Many people don't know about Dan Wilson. He's the lead singer of band called "Semisonic". They had mild success in the late 1990s, especially with their hit single "Closing Time". He's produced and written some big time hits for artists like Dixie Chicks, Adele, Josh Groban, Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley, Weezer.. And has won a Grammy for the song 'Not Ready to Make Nice'

My favorite Minnesotan in my best friend. Put me in a room full of the rich and famous folk and I'd still prefer to be around him.

Not sure if he counts as a Minnesotan (undergraduate and graduate school at the U), but I'd go with Norman Borlaug. His research helped feed millions (billions?) of people. Plus, he seems to have had an inspiring work ethic and strong desire to help fellow humans. If you want awards he received a Nobel Peace Prize, a Congressional Gold Medal, and numerous others.

Yeh, but other than you and maybe a handful of others, nobody really cares about your friend. This thread is for Minnesotans that have had an impact to the masses.

Which thread are you reading? It certainly isn't this one because what you said has nothing to do with the original post. Who is your favorite Minnesotan and why? "Other" was a valid choice in the poll. I read nothing about "a favorite Minnesotan who had an impact to the masses."

1. What you said was rude.
2. What you said was false.
3. This isn't your thread.

Apparently, the impact that your favorite Minnesotan on you had nothing to do with respect or kindness. Funny, my favorite Minnesotan did. I'll stick with my choice. I've met him. We're part of each other's lives. How can you have a favorite person if you've never met them? You don't know them and they don't know you.

This is a discussion board. A forum designed for common discussion. This isn't a discussion board to talk about your favorite friend. Cool, your friend is your favorite Minnesotan, yay. But for the interest of the forum and for discussion's sake nobody a) knows about your friend, so therefor cannot discuss B) Your friend that nobody knows isn't interesting, and nobody cares, so it's a worthless post.

It would be like "What is your favorite football team?" and then someone posting "My little nephews Pop Warner team!". Well, cool you like that team the most, but it doesn't fit into the discussion. So, either don't post or post something worth discussion.
