How prevalent are drugs in Minnesota? What is the most common drug? Is weed as common there as elsewhere in the country?

I would think that would depend on where in the state you are and who you are running around with. You're talking about a state 400 miles tall, 350 miles wide, and containing 5.3 million people.

Just like everywhere else in the country, your opportunity for exposure to illegal drugs depends on where you live, who you hang with, and how dangerously you like to live. Here in North Minneapolis there used to be a terrible problem with crack cocaine when it first hit the streets in the early 1990's, but after several years the novelty wore off, and most the hardcore crack abusers either wised up or went to prison. Nowadays there's a little of everything, mostly marijuana I suppose.

Of course, if you're into scoring some contraband, you've got to go to the suburbs, as demonstrated by that 391 lb pot bust in Inver Grove Heights, or the big Oxy/Percocet sting in Northfield the other day... here are a few of your neighbors:

But I'm really not an expert on illegal drugs; check with your local police department (or your dealer) for more information.

Is this going to turn into a Cleveland vs. Twin Cities smack-down like your "Roughest Areas of the Twin Cities" thread?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Having spent a few months at a rather famous place just north of the twin cities... I was given a lot of insight....
As you get out towards the midwest, there are lots of farms (look at Iowa, corn as far as you can see....), so they have lots of anhydrous ammonia for the crops. An ideal place to set up meth labs (and lots of them).

Meth is a big component of the drug arena out in that part of the country, as it manufactured nearby.

Why are your questions about something that will cast Minnesota in a negative light? What's your angle?

So we can only ask positive questions in the Minnesota forum? Too un-Minnesota nice for you? It's just a question, get over it.
