Greetings Minnesotans! My wife is contemplating a job in Waseca. I've done a bit of research, and it seems like a nice place, but I have some specific questions about it:

1. How easy is it to get from there to the Twin Cities? We'd like to have the option to get away on weekends (without necessarily driving), so decent transport links are important.

2. How nice a town is it generally? Does it have decent local food and activities, or is it super-sleepy?

3. My wife is Russian (we live in Moscow currently). Would she have any trouble fitting in as an obvious foreigner in such a town?

BTW, cold winters don't scare us - a Muscovite and a Chicagoan (me).

Thanks for any advice you can give!

Waseca is great, it is a nice town with nice shops and stuff but 20 minutes east is Owatonna which is a much bigger and more active town. They also have a shuttle service that brings you anywhere in the County

Waseca has a nice little main street which can get busy during certain times, Short walk away from Clear Lake which is a big plus.

For transportation to the Twin Cities:

I dont know too much about transportation between Owatanna - Waseca Area to Minneapolis but i know there's free shuttle buses to Mystic Lake Casino. However its only on Tuesdays

Jefferson Lines and Greyhound will take you to Minneapolis, just over a 2 hour ride for about $25 a seat
