Neither. I've only been to either coast a handful of times.

I guess if I HAD to choose, or die... I'd ask for a coin to toss.

In terms of flora and fauna I think it's more similar to New England than to the Pacific North-West, so I went for east coast.

Minnesotans (the real ones, not those murderous monsters the church groups are 'relocating' there) are sweet, honest, kind, fair, nice people. The dominant culture there is Scandinavian. You can say the same things about (real) West Coast people.

In fact, much of the West Coast was settled/populated by Scandinavians who Immigrated first to the Upper Midwest, then, in Sequential Migration over generations, made their way to the West Coast. The happy, golden age of California was made so, largely, by Swedes and Danes whose families first settled the Upper Midwest. Maybe they never were the largest demographic group, but they definitely set the tone for West Coast folkways/mores/society/values...

I love Midwesterners and Northwesterners. Southerners (of whom I am one) try my patience. Northeasterners make my hair stand on end. Before fleeing Mississippi, we looked at all the best places. The resemblance between the people of Seattle and Minneapolis we found uncanny. So if I had to choose, I'd say Minnesota is aligned with the West Coast.

BTW, to Minnesotans: I think you are the most indescribably wonderful people in the world. Why oh why can't Minnesota remain untouched? Why mess with perfection?

People from the coasts that I've met have an insufferable obsession with them and generally look down upon those of us who reside in the middle. While I'd say Minneapolis resembles more of a west coast town to me than an east coast one, I just don't think we have the same air that people in places like San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle regard themselves as.

Definitely neither one. We are proudly part of what the coast people sometimes refer to as "flyover country."
