How is Rochester living? My wife might get a job there and I'm thinking about going to school there. Any good colleges around there (specifically for psych)? I prefer bigger cities but I like smaller towns for schooling. Am I going to be eating out at the local gas station and hanging out in bowling alleys with old chubby peeps?

A lady I work with has a son with a young family in Rochester and she says they love it. It's currently in the top 100 on money mag's "best places to live" index. With all the healtcare influences there, I think you'll find more health-conscious people than "old chubby peeps", lol. It's also currently one of the fastest growing cities in MN, so they have a lot to offer as far as places to shop, things to do, etc. for a city of about 100,000.

The U of M, Winona State University and Rochester Community College have sort of an educational collaboration called the "university center" and they do offer a BA in psychology as well as advanced degrees in counseling and social work. You can check it out at roch dot edu.

Default Think twice

Just to give you an idea of the eating establishments, they have a restaurant review in the local paper, Red Lobster and Olive Garden are a few that I have seen. As for fine dining, there are less than 1/2 dozen. The downtown area closes down after 6pm on evenings. They where trying to get more bars, etc in downtown area but due to Mother Mayo, that will never happen. We came from Dallas and only spent 11 months then left. Too cold and gloomy. Do not buy a house, too many on the market and not enough people moving to to fill them. Think twice.
