Thanks. What about other cities? Any to stay away from?

I wouldn't stay away from Fergus Falls because of that, but it is just something that I remember about it. If you live on the outskirts of the city, you will have your own well for water anyway.
My old office in NE Minneapolis had pretty bad tasting water also. I think it came from the Mississippi River.
Most of the Minneapolis suburbs I have been in had city water that did not taste bad.

Thank you so much for the info! Living in Southern California has become a total joke! It is beautiful here, but so not worth it. My husband is presently looking for a job, so I guess we'll see what happens!

Fergus Falls just right
The wife, kids and myself just recentley moved to Fergus Falls MN from ND. I am originally from Seattle WA and I tell you I have no regrets what so ever of moving to the midwest. No more looking over the shoulder, worrying about getting mugged or what not. The freedoms that one has to enjoy life in this part of the country in unreal. I never knew I could be so comfortable living where I do.
Fergus Falls is an excellent comunity for family life. Virtually no crime, great school system, excellent health care with real caring and sincere doctors and nurses. More and more jobs are opening up everyday. An ethanol plant is being constructed, a fortune 500 computer company is starting, server management related with high paying jobs, and more and more everyday.
Very beautiful area, reminds me of Washington state, after living in flat country over in ND. Trees, lakes, hills and wildlife are everywhere. Very relaxing way to live life. If you and your family are considering moving to Fergus I would contact the Chamber of Commerce as I am sure they have packets and a video they would send you free of charge.
Good luck and God bless.

I just visited a friend in Fergus Falls and enjoyed it immensely. I am actually considering moving there with my family. My only concerns is that there is not much diversity in the town. I am African American and although I don't have a problem with other ethnic groups, they do at times seem to have a problem with me. I did meet some really nice people while I was there and they were of a different race.

I grew up in FF and my parents still live on the south side. Being older now I see the benefits of Fergus better. Great schools, recreational opportunities (lakes), low crime, nice people, etc. The scenery is beautiful. I would recommend it for families who want a slower way of life. Good luck.

Fergus also has a great little bakery-fantastic breads. It's called "Little Falls", we make the trip from Alexandria regularly as good Italian bread, etc is non-existant in MN. Also be prepared for cuisine shock-good basic food, no flavor.
