Default How are/were the fall colors in your area?

Around here they are kind of a bust this year. The individual colors on the trees are very vivid and bright but there has been so much rain/wind that most of the trees have lost the top 1/2 of their leaves so you don't get that amazing effect of the mixture of colors this year. I always look forward to a couple weeks of brilliant colors but this year is pretty disappointing.

Our trees are past peak up here, but we had the same thing...some very vibrant individual trees, but the "timing" didn't seem right this year as far as the explosion and contrast of colors (happening at the same time) that we've had in years past. Some trees really didn't get a lot of good color, just kind of turned brown and that was it. I'm sure the long drought this summer along with the extremely windy/rainy fall had something to do with it. Hopefully things will get back to "normal" next year!

In the duluth area we saw mixed results too. Around UMD the trees always seem to burst into vibrant reds and oranges a week or two earlier than most.Yet, this year they were kinda drab. I have a couple of Maples in my yard that are mostly still green with tinges of yellow!?

I agree with the colors....what colors there were were pretty drab in the northern Red River valley. Leaves are off of most trees now though some varieties of trees hold on to leaves a lot longer.

Default Fall colors link

We had some great fall colors in the Brainerd Lakes Area. Of course, the maples have pretty much lost their leaves and now it is just the yellows and rust colors of the oaks.

For a photo gallery of fall colors, check out the gallery on spotted.pineandlakes.com.
