Bill McGuire purchased the Minnesota Stars of the NASL a few months ago.

Today the team was rebranded to Minnesota United FC.

I am glad that the team now has a local owner with deep pockets.

I liked it better when they were the Stars.

I think this quote in a Star Tribune article about the name change summarized one problem with the Stars branding...

Cool, I used to go to Sounders games in Seattle which were crazy! People in Seatown went nuts for soccer, er football. The games there would outsell the Mariners regularly (when they sucked) and pack 60k people into Qwest Field. Where will they play here and does anybody in Minnesota go?

Season opener at the Dome, they play regular season games at the National sports center in Blaine.

We went to the opener last year at the dome and I purchased a Minnesota Stars teeshirt....I can't believe it's already obsolete!

I'm a huge soccer fan and I'll probably attempt to coerce my wife to go to the opener at the dome on April 6th. I've been to several Thunder/Stars matches up at the NSC in Blaine over the years. After the Twins it's probably my favorite outdoor sport to watch in the Twin Cities. I just wish they played a little closer to where I live.
