OK, now my boat is registered until 2015. I am ready to find places to get out and practice before the mightysippi (Mightyssippi Adventure |) event in 2 weeks. Does anyone have after-work type places they like to go in Woodbury or nearby that would be easy to get in and out of if one only has 30 minutes? I looked at powers lake and, from the satellite photos at least, there dont seem to be a lot of parking spots if one is in a hurry. Anyway, I am open to suggestions.

thanks!

Rice Creek Chain of Lakes just past Centerville has a canoe/kayak trail and rental options as well.

Lakes or rivers? If you want to practice on a river, the St. Croix is an option. There are some good, public landings in Bayport, Lakeland, Afton, etc. that are easy to get to from Woodbury. There isn't as much boat traffic there as you find in Stillwater either. You can also put in north of Stillwater in a number of places, again, avoiding most boat traffic as the river is too shallow there for most boats.

There is the county park in Lake Elmo and a big lake there but not sure if they allow Kayaks though. Square Lake is also an option, lots of parking and quite a bit of room to paddle around.
