Default Where to live????

My husband and I are moving to MN and we don`t know where to live. He will be working in Hopkins, so far we have considered Hopkins, Minnetonka and Plymouth. Any other suggestions? We will be renting.

We are in our late twenties, no kids. The only thing that concerns us about a long commute is bad weather, the further away from work we live the more crazy snow driving he`ll have to do!!! We like to be somewhat near shops/restaurants but also somewhere we can walk outside.

Any of those choices would be fine, easy commutes, close to whatever you need, etc. I wouldn't worry too much about bad weather and commuting. Minnesota is equipped to handle large snowfalls. It takes A LOT of snow to shut things down and then you won't have to worry about the commute because you will be off work . The highways and interstates are plowed well and quickly so it really isn't much of an issue unless the snow fall happens right at rush hour.

Hopkins, Plymouth, and Minnetonka are all nice areas. Give us some more parameters so we can give you better advice.

scratch plymouth and hopkins for rentals hopkins especially, if your latino your good or somali or ethiopian your good. pylmouth not so much. minnetonka for rentals I wouldn't recommend only thing in tonka is ridgedale mall and thats about it really. I'm a HUGE advocate for MPLS. There is an area in SW MPLS called Linden Hills/Harriet Lake area wonderful little shops very affluent neighborhood extremely close to the lakes in town. 2bedrooms run @800 or so. other area is Uptown more trendy neighborhood 20's/early 30's. still only 10-15 minutes to hopkins NO HIGHWAYS.

Honestly you will hate livin out there for renting. friends of mine rented in hopkins/st.louis park border there complex turned from @90% white to 40% in 3 years. this is just rentals. the towns themselves are mostly white.
