There are probably only a handful of districts in the suburbs that I would say aren't good. One being Anoka/Hennepin because of the serious budget issues, South Washington County schools--just don't like the area and they just don't perform like they should on test scores. Coon Rapids is an OK district but is surrounded by some really good districts so why not move 5 miles away into the really good districts. Farmington--same as Coon Rapids--why live in Farmington when you can live in Apple Valley or Rosemout--or Lakeville on the other side.

For the most part you will find that the suburban schools are all very good--some are just a little bit better.

We played Osseo in the state basketball tournament one year when I was coaching. They had a GIRL that was 6'6" tall--it was quite a novelty.

Osseo is good, too. You'll get a better value on your purchase in that school district, as well. And, of course, you'll be closer to all that awesome Maple Grove shopping.

My daughter is almost 36" tall and she is only 15 months old, so maybe she will fit in there

Well, thanks again for the information. I was all worried about finding the right school district. I found some house listings in Apple Valley, Eagan, and Plymouth that I like. Now I just have to hope my husband gets his job offer!!

I teach in District 196 and my wife teaches in the Wayzata district. We live in south Minneapolis to equate our commutes. Eastview High School in Apple Valley is superior to Wayzata High School and in fact may be the best public high school in the Midwest. I suggest you visit their website and the school if you're serious about making the move.

I suggest staying clear of Osseo - also, the schools in the west metro (Eden Prairie, Minnetonka, Wayzata, etc. are HUGE, class sizes, graduation classes, etc.)

I grew up in Apple Valley, and graduated from Eastview High School. I like the city and plan on raising my own family there. Many of the schools in 196 are award winning. Ask any 196 student about the school district, and you will hear the same thing. You may also like to look into the Lakeville School District. Lakeville is located on the southern boder of Apple Valley. Both are very good. Apple Valley has 3 high schools, Lakeville has 2 high schools.
