Hello my husband works for the railroad and we want out of IN and have the option of Thief River Falls, MN or Enderlin, ND. DOes anyone have info they can give me on housing and any positives or negatives about moving to either? We would greatly appreciate any insight anyone can give!!!!

Hi

I posted info on both places on the ND forum....

There is a thread already for Thief River Falls...go down toward the bottom of the page....but overall a good place to raise a family....small town....but big enough to have some options. Close to hunting, and the forests and lakes to its east and southeast (though TVF is on the edge of the prairie). Most people drive to Grand Forks for big time shopping/restaurants. Winter temps are cold anywhere in this area....TVF just a tad colder on average than Enderlin. As for housing...I do know it has been tough to come by as employment has increased over the years (one of the few northwest MN bright spots)....but dont know specifics sorry.

Dan

I have lots of information on the town. I visited (and interviewed for a job) the end of November. Drop me a DM (it is called direct message on this site, right?) and I'll let you know my initial reactions. All in all not a bad place. The school system is healthy. When looking for housing, you will have a challenge, though. Like Dan in East Grand Forks stated-- look below for my adventure in TRF. Sadly, my wife wasn't on board with this. To her-- she grew up in Detroit Lakes-- Minnesota is lakes and trees. TRF is prairie, but so is all of North Dakota!

Good Luck,
