Better be prepared for a job search a little more than a week.
I think there is a small casino in town that's operated by the Red Lake Band of Chippewa.

Both polaris and Marvin Windows have a ton of forklifts driving around their plants. I don't see you having a problem.

I have lived in Roseau for 10 plus years and I am a transplant meaning I am not originally from the area. All that has been said in the post I find true. People are extremely friendly and it is a very family orientated area. Your child would get lots of ice time but I have been impressed with how well rounded the options are for the children both educationally and extra curricular. The schools are very good and have post secondary options. True as well about the advice to get involved to get to know people. Just hold your opinion until people find out what you are about and then they will welcome it but don't come in acting like you know more or better It is a proud community with a lot of people that have relocated to the area because of the Industries such as Polaris and Marvins. Most jobs are posted online their websites but not all so it is worth tracking down a phone number and calling. I know Polaris has had a demand for production and welding workers this fall. The common practice in a job like forklifting is it is posted internally so individuals from production would be able to apply internally, but you may not find it posted on the websites. Westaff is a staffing agency that hires new employees in for production at Polaris. Sorry, I am not as familiar with Marvin's practices. They are bothgood companies and you will find other options as well. As far as special needs for children we do have special education teachers at both Warroad and Roseau and I know of another child that recently moved to the area that has Autism. For sure regardless of the need, children are a priority in the community and there are a lot of caring people. It does get cold (I describe the area as breathtaking at times), dress warm and ride a snowmobile you'll be having so much fun you won't know it. Mosquitos as well, the last two years we have been blessed with warm and dry and free of mosquitos but we love our wildlife up here and I am sure they serve a purpose. Lake of the Woods and Roseau County is land of the outdoorsman and woman with lots of hunting, fishing and trailriding. I am a city person and adjusted quickly and always look forward to coming back home after my travels.

I am a native minnesotan. Its very cold up their but then where isnt it cold in Minnesota. All schools in Minnesota are top notch and Warroad has a great Hockey team. Minnesotans are very friendly. Health care is top notch. Germs dont survive in this state cuz its too dam cold. Hope it helps!!

We currently live in Tucson, AZ. We are thinking of moving up to the northern border. I am curious about Warroad. What is there to do in town? How far is a Major city from there? What are the schools like? And what does the term "snowed in" really mean?

How do you define "major city"...?
Google Maps says it's 416 miles to Minneapolis from Warroad, 262 miles to Duluth, 218 miles to Fargo/Moorhead, and 126 miles to Winnipeg (on the other side of the US/Canada border).

Wow... I lived by Thief River Falls and I don't understand what the draw to Warroad is. I am not trying to be judgemental or anything I just really want to know what draws you to a small city like Warroad.
