What do you think of this report? Agree or not?

I've traveled a fair bit in my several decades on the planet, and while I'm not smug about my home state, I was a little surprised by the findings.

I just read the article. What I found most interesting is that as you go down the list of places it keeps going down by increments of 1%. BUT when you get to the 86% mark it goes down to Minnesota's 81%. A jump of 5% down the slide kind of makes Minnesota look even worse, IMO. But hey, at least someone bought a drink for a homeless person.

I, too, am a little surprised by the findings.

I'd be inclined to believe that someone attempted legitimately to make change and accidentally took too much out thus skewering their till.

*gasp* A *ranking list* actually placed their city at the bottom. Don't Minnesotans base all of their civic pride on lists like these? What is this going to do to their self-esteem?

I didn't see the details of their methodology (other than that they set out product on the honor system), so it's hard to say. It does seem odd you have two relative outliers in a sample of 62.

Certainly some things they can make uniform across all sites (signage, cart setup, etc.), but there are some things you can't, like neighborhood (perhaps in Mpls they just happened to measure CEOs, or people who work for a competing beverage company), or weather. Or perhaps just time of month - early in the month people feel flush, and at the end of the month, they may be more willing to cut corners.

Perhaps they ran multiple sites in each city to control some of these differences, but I haven't seen enough for me to have a real explanation for why.

Yep, as are most of these lists that Minneapolitans like to hold up as proof of how great they are. Pretty hypocritical that when the list shows Minnesota in a negative light, people are dismissive of it, but when it's positive they flaunt it at every opportunity.
