I live in far northwestern MN and things are doing well....Arctic Cat....Digi-Key in Thief River Falls....Polaris in Roseau and Marvin Windows in Warroad all doing well. No for finding housing that is a different story, that can be tough but not impossible. But overall our area of the state has been doing pretty well. I know less about farther east....I gather Bemidji-I Falls area pretty stable....at least Bemidji. Tourism is the biggest industry Bemidji-Park Rapids and the lakes region and that continues to do well as I know many people in the Grand Forks-Fargo ND areas with lake cabins, etc. I know least about the Iron Range.

The economy on the Iron Range (NE MN) is always boom bust. Right now there seems to be a bust. Keetac just announced that it is going to close, which will put about 500 people out of work, which will have a ripple effect on the wider economy.

On the other hand, the taconite mines open close open close open close with drama quite regularly.

I've had a heck of a time unloading a nice house in a small town in that region. My house would sell for about $30,000 more in SE MN, and at least $100,000 more in the Twin Cities.

It's a beautiful and interesting place to live, though.
