best place to live in minnesota
My husband works for oshkosh truck and he has the opportunity to move to minnesota, but they said it has to be a bigger city, only they have yet to tell us the cities we get to choose from. So i was wondering what the nicest/bigger city/town would be? We like the outdoors and would like to be close to recreation. Thanks a ton.

Does he have to live in that city proper? Could he pick St. Paul and then live in one of the suburbs or are you looking for something more rural but still a larger town (what is larger by the way?).

minneapolis has the best park system in the country, the stigma of crime comes from white trash mainly from the 6th district; if you move to the areas that are middle class (basically most parts besides areas of north mpls) you'd have the best of all worlds

Yep stay clear of north minneapolis, there are some areas that are not that bad but still a little unsafe. Any suburb basically surrounding minneapolis would be ok

Duluth. Much more compact than the TC, easier to get to recreation, more affordable, and Lake Superior is beautiful!

As much as I dislike Duluth for the winters, and cool falls and springs, I gotta say, if you're gonna be somewhere in Minnesota, you might as well check out Duluth. It is a really beautiful area. Whenever I'm coming home from somewhere (be it Esko, the Twin Cities, Milwaukee, any other places in the US I've driven to) it's so refreshing on the hill coming down from Proctor...especially in the night time. To see the city just shining at you. It is a beautiful place. The only bad thing like previously said are the winters. Though it seems like the winters in the cities weren't all too great either.

Best Places to leave in MN
If you have the option to choose, Duluth is beautiful large city close to tons of recreation if you don't mind the terrible wind chills from the lake effect and long winters. If you are looking to be closer to the metro area I will suggest Plymouth it is a suburb of Minneapolis. It is a very nice town and close to the commodities of the city and parks.

Don't forget the Victory neighborhood which is both part of the the park system AND a VERY nice part of North Mpls.
