Ok so now that I've been looking at some houses… I've noticed not a lot of them are updated on the inside… anyone have any recommendations of good neighborhoods in between maplewood and anoka that maybe have either newer construction or that might be updated a bit? seems like the real estate agent we've been working with only keeps showing me houses that the interior is stuck in the 70s … any reply would be awesome! I'm running out of time and really need to find a house

Depends on your budget. Has your agent shown you any in Club West or The Lakes in Blaine? There are pockets of new houses in every suburb, but new construction will cost more. You can find updated places in any price range, but they won't always be done well.

Find a new realtor. Every area has homes that have been remodeled as well as newer developments.

This. A blind man who's only lived in Minnesota for an hour and a half could find dozens of properties meeting your criteria in about one afternoon. Your agent is not doing diddly for you.

Could you be more specific?
Schools important?
Parks, trails, in city, suburbs, big yards, near water???
Anything else?

The husband is going to be working in Maplewood and i might be going to school in Anoka… so were looking somewhere in between. Im not necessarily looking to buy as I'm running out of time now, but the most important part is we need a fenced in yard or a ground floor patio for our small dog. Doesn't have to be something big but we need a little run for him. Something with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms at least and obviously nothing too crazy expensive. thank y'all!

Hah hah welcome to Minnesota style. It's either Northwoods or Country Clutter. Take your pick.

But seriously, without your being specific about what you mean by updated it's hard to tell what you're after. Are you looking for stuff like you see in Houzz?

no so far we were working with a realtor … some houses were nice but most of them the kitchens were tiny and dark… i would like a gas stove and updated appliances .. I'm just looking for something with a more open concept and light and airy… nothing dark and dingy… I'm not looking for fancy but possibly white cabinets and no dark colored carpet…
