"history" Minnesotans have no history?
I will apologize for your remark for it was very ignorant. I can't even begin to say how much history there is here. Many of the people that came here came from there, so did Minnesotans somehow lose their history? And what do mean by genuine?

Well-growing up in MD we are exposed to alot of history-it's all around us, we got to go on field trips to DC and Williamsburg-my kids went to the Como Zoo and Up North-camping.
By genuine I mean down to earth people, I found many materialistic people in MN.
These are my experiences-I didn't realize this until I moved to the East Coast.

Sounds like the seasons here in Atlanta, sort of. It has a long semi-hot summer and then fallwinterspring.

re: history
States like Maryland had a 100+ year head start creating history. At least with settlers. I imagine Native American history dates back about the same amount of time.
I understand what you're saying, though. When I moved to Rhode Island several years ago I was very excited to attend the country's oldest 4th of July parade. Minnesota doesn't have many things that are the country's oldest.

Sorry but Native Americans were in here long before any settlers and yes, they to have history. Wonder why are football team is called the Vikings?
General Custer, ever hear of him? Charles Lindbergh ? If your talking about colonial history then yes you folks have more of that. There is a lot of history here but its not well published for tourists. The state makes plenty of money from people visiting Duluth or the boundary waters.

MN definitely has four beautiful distinct seasons. If you want the true land of "summer" and "fallwinterspring" come to Portland, OR. The earlier poster claiming not to see the sun for weeks at a time has no idea what he/she is talking about - comparitively speaking .
And yes, MN has plenty of history!

Ok-
I never said MN has no history, I just doesn't have nearly as many historical sites.
As far as the weather, I like the balance of the seasons in MD, and the change of seasons is more gradual. Many people in MN comment that they live in MN because it has all 4 seasons, as if MN is the only state with 4 seasons. They don't think MD has 4 seasons-but they have never lived here.
MN often goes for days-weeks-and even a month without sun, I know from living there... and my kids still live there.

I don't think anyone said that there aren't other states with four distinct seasons; just that they like the way the seasons are presented / how they occur. Certainly no one stated that MD doesn't have four seasons.
I too have lived in MN, and in my experience weeks without sun was a rarity, if not a gross exaggeration. Again, comparitively speaking, Portland, OR (my current home) is much darker and gloomier for longer periods of time in the winter. Trust me, low wet rain clouds are much worse than high winter clouds that let through a lot of ambient light. But there's always an exception to the rule - right now we've had a week of sunshine with unusually cold temps for Portland (below freezing! ).
