Thats great! I really am excited now to know what the restaurant is! I hope it is a T.G.I Fridays, Chili's or another chain we dont have yet. Residence Inn will be the current modern prototype do you agree? I also heard today that Buffalo Wild Wings is looking at opening in the old Gander Mt. space.

I have a question. Does anyone think Duluth needs a Super Target store?

Funny Thing. Walking through the mall today and I looked to were the old Copper Fox store was on pasted on the box out wall was "Coming Soon, HOT TOPIC." Yes its true Hot Topic is moving next to their old store, the new light and full of air prototype store. Look for it to open in a few months.

I have a few theories of why Duluth lacks a lot of the retail and restaurant
chains that similar sized Midwestern cities have. First, Duluth has lost 30,000 people since 1960 and has lost more high paying jobs than it has attracted. Second, is the lack of liquor licenses. And finally, the lack of a free enterprise beliving government. The citizens of Duluth must change its attitude toward private property and wealth creation. Rochester, St. Cloud, Mankato, Eau Claire, Fargo and Bismark have gained people in the post WW2 era, while Duluth hasn't. I moved from Duluth to the Twin Cities ten years ago and retail and dining options have improved tenfold since then. I don't see how upscale stores like Chico's, Talbot's and Coldwater Creek can make it up there. If Duluthians want more retail and dining options, than relax the anti- buisiness regulations, reduce the tax burden, and throw the commies in the City Council the heck out of there. All of the fancy stores and restau- rants wont bring me back, but freedom and the opportunity to have a good job and keep my money and property may bring me and the people that left back to Duluth! |
