Anybody familiar with MN dog law? My dog (female Red Heeler) chewed up the neighbors dog in my yard. Didn't kill it but it had to stay overnight at the vet....

Please pay for the vet bill. That would be really nice and hopefully head off any neighbor 2 neighbor unfriendships. I feel bad for the other dog, I hope it is ok.

I think it mostly varies by county and city. Was the neighbor's dog invited into your yard, or was it running loose?

Regardless, I second demtion's suggestion that you pay the vet bill. It's simply the right thing to do.

This right here.

The next time it strays in for a beat down, it's on them.

As a dog owner, I think you should pay. Or at least pay half.

A responsible dog owner wouldn't let their dog run loose. If you don't mind being on bad terms with your neighbor, let them take care of their own bill. If nothing else, it's an expensive lesson for them. At most, just to keep the peace, I'd offer to pay half the bill. If I didn't get along with the neighbor anyway, I wouldn't pay any of the bill. It's certainly not your fault in any way, shape or form. Your dog was just probably protecting your yard and did what he was supposed to do. I just get tired of irresponsible dog owners.

it's too bad your dog hasn't learned to play nice

I would NOT pay it if if the dog entered your yard uninvited, maybe the dog sensed trouble and was protecting the home owner.
