Northfield MN
Possibly looking to move to Northfield MN or in the area. I understand that housing is expensive, and renting is difficult. Can someone elaborate on this subject. If anyone has spent anytime in Northfield could you please elaborate on your experiences also. Just trying to get a feel of the town before I committ to moving there. Thanks.

Northfield is a great little town, we always try to go there in September, they have a re-inactment of Jesse James days, it is really cool, they also have bull riding during this time, and we make sure we see that. They do a really good job, people there are very nice and friendly, easy to get along with any one who lives there.
You would love the area, it is always clean, and you are not far from some of the bigger towns and cities. I am not sure about the housing or rent, I just know it is a beautiful town, reminds you of the old west. That is about all I can tell you for now, if I think of anything else I will post it.

My husband grew up in Northfield so we have spent a lot of time there. Expensive is always relative to what you make so it can or cannot be expensive. It will cost you at least $250,000 to get a nicer house, less if you want something like a new construction split-level with the top level finished. Northfield is slightly less expensive then the suburbs but they have fairly high taxes.
Northfield is a great town, especially if you have a family. With the two colleges there, opportunities for activities are endless. With the 70 MPH speedlimit, you can be at great shopping in a 1/2 hour.

I visited Northfield last year and I loved it so much. People said hello to me on the streets. I went into a place called Tiny's (if I'm remembering correctly) and ordered a hot dog and while I was waiting for it I had to use the restroom. Well the guy behind the counter told me to just leave my shopping bags at the counter. I did, and I actually knew taht they would be there when I came back. I wouldn't do that anywhere before. I drove around the neighborhood and I just love love loved it. People were out jogging, pushing strollers, walking dogs. I saw the high school let out and the kids were nice looking kids, they were loud and doing teenage stuff, but they were polite. I want to live there.

I visited there four times before I moved there.
Perhaps like I said in previous posts, the timing was bad. The City was in turmoil.
Timing is everything.
