Default Reverse snowbird needs some advice

I am a few years from retirement down here in the Phoenix, AZ area. We are considering a "summer" home/mobile home/cabin/etc either in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan or somewhere northeast of Duluth up to about Grand Marais.

This is a looking to buy situation, not rent. Is there a lot of this going on in Two Harbors or Grand Marais?

Any comments appreciated

Regards

There are a lot of resorts, time share, cabin things north of Two Harbors and Grand Marais but as far as THINGS to do, mostly hiking and a nice golf course in Lutsen. It is also a pretty expensive area to buy in. If you like to go out to eat, movies, etc. stay closer to Duluth and you will be ok. North of Duluth is pretty much wilderness with a few resorts thrown in for good measure. It's beautiful up there though.

There are a lot of new developments north of Duluth along the shore heading up to Two Harbors and beyond. Larsmont Cottages (www.larsmontcottages.com/) are a new development along scenic highway 61. I think you can buy, rent, or even own a portion of the cottage. Individual condos are for sale at Superior Shore Resort in Two Harbors. I think you can also buy condos at Bluefin Bay a little further up the shore.

The North Shore Cabin Company builds A Frames, log cabins and small developments all along the shore. You can also buy a share or own your own condo at Grand Superior Lodge, or at Caribou Highlands and Lutsen.

Schroeder has the Temperance Landing near Lutsen is a log home development. I think you will find a lot of options in any of the places. It may just depend on how close to wildenress vs city you want to be.
