Moving to MN what is a good location
My family will be relocating from San Diego to Minneapolis and I will be working in the Plymouth area. I wanted to know what are good communities with good school systems within a 30 - 45 minute commute to that area.

Wayzata, Plymouth, Eden Prairie, Mounds View and Minnetonka are all great areas, expensive, but great. They are all pretty easy commutes to Plymouth too.

Golden Valley, Medicine Lake, Robinsdale, and Roseville/Arden Hills are nice too, but are more inner ring suburbs. You may even get a quick commute up Hwy 169 to Coon Rapids and Anoka which are nice towns too.

You could certainly start with Plymouth. It is a wonderful family community with easy access to highways, shopping etc... It also happens to be one of the more "affluent" suburbs so you will have a nice variety of homes to chose from. As an upscale community, the schools are well regarded and often praised.
I happen to live in a suburb a bit further south called Eden Prairie, a large, again affluent (if that is the right word.... I guess I don't like the images that word conjures up but EP and Plymouth are probably two of the higher end cities.) I like living in this community and it too has some of the better school systems.
One last thing you will be pleased with should you consider either of the two cities listed: The parks system in both cities are incredible. I can't believe how many parks and recreational options we have at our disposal.
