of course not being able to purchase does not mean not being able to consume. there are bars and prior purchases. so don't worry, most everyone will be fine and not have to do without.

Just because someone wants to buy some beer on a Sunday does not mean they "can't go a day without booze."

It's about time! Many people only have the weekend, to do the bulk of all their shopping.

wow hard to believe Mn is or was a$$ backwards about this issue. But like someone said it was easy enough to buy it other days of the week :-)

But I grew up in PA where you could not buy alcohol in grocery or convenience stores. Had to buy beer in a bar and hard liquor and wine in a state controlled store. If you wanted a case or more had to guy at a beer distributor.

Here in Oregon we have no restrictions except no sales from 2 am until 7 am.

Surdyk's is open today. Owner said once it was signed, good enough. City official was there and said they could be fined $500 for the day. This is great business decision by him, they'll make way more then $500.

A couple who owned a liquor store in central MN were interviewed in a central MN paper.

Her take on it was that unless you were a border town you now will work 7 days instead of 6 to make the same amount of sales $$$$$$$.

I think that will be true for most.

If they see no benefit in opening on Sundays then they can choose to remain closed. Nobody is forcing them to open their doors on Sundays. However this new law will allow those who wish to sell liquor on Sundays to do so. I think most people in the state have been in favor of this for at least the last decade. In my opinion this should have happened a long time ago.

Yeah I heard the line was way out the door, plus he got a ton of free advertising and publicity as well with all the news stations reporting it.

I just saw his fines were at least $3,500 and now might be looking at his liquor license. He said it was his best Sunday ever, haha. The store near me the owner told me he'll try it out and decide if it's worth it or not to do it once it's legal.
